Scion is what the sticks taken from this new seasons growth and they are from a particular Variety you wish to propagate, this wood is used to graft onto a rootstock or onto an existing tree or rework a stump.
We have over 400 apples, 30+ pear & Nashi, 12 quinces, 120 plums, 2 medlars and 12 apricots to choose from, these can all be added by using the "Whip & Tongue" grafting method over winter. You see we didn't list our peaches, almonds & nectarines or citrus as these are typically Budded in Feb when the sap is flowing, from fresh green buds.
June to end Sept is usually best time once the leaves drop to Graft and the scion above can be kept cool in top of fridge for months if needed, saying this I find 100% success with Apricots and Plums if done by end July as after this we have seen drop off in taking of grafts to just 50% later in season, But the rest are very hardy and can be done easy up to Sept end.
Scion is $7 which would be a stick 150-250mm long with 6-10 buds, this is enough for two grafts ( some times up to 6)
A good very sharp knife and budding tape are all thats needed and I expect you to succed 95% plus first go. You can by a proper Budding knife for about $25, this has a single facet edge to it for nice straight cuts, graft/ bud tape sells for about $4 a roll and Florestry tape for $2 these work fine & Buddy tape is excllent dyue to its flexability and sticky nature- but at $79-99 cost per roll its both expensive and not usefull unless you will do 500 grafts in next 2 years as it goes hard on you.
Florestry tape does same job if its kept from getting too cold ( cold it breaks rather than stretches so i put bits on outside of a warm kettle ready to use).

From 2025 we can not send scion to "The lost seed" as we had done the last 10 years to supply 99%, as they moved to Tassie ( which restricts entry of plant material). So we can send you them to you Direct (weeks faster & fresher than in the past) plus its cheaper to you !
Our scion comes off our Certified Organic & Biodynamic collections with NO mosaic virus in our apples (another important factor)
